I highly recommend an afterburner, as it makes nearly all level 4 missions trivial. Movement reduces the incoming damage, and allows you to stay outside the range (about 90 km) of all NPC battleships, other than Angels (they are fast).
I am a strong believer that you shouldn't use any battleship until you can T2 fit everything other than weapons and rigs. Having good drone skills, preferably T2, is also a must for dealing with frigates and spider drones. I lost my first Raven the day after I got it, but I've never lost another since.
I carry 15 cap booster charges in my cargo (5 in the module) and fill the rest of my cargo with cruise missiles. Depending on the missions, I usually run out of missiles after about 4-6 missions or so, or need to change the damage type. I never run out of cap charges before running out of missiles. I build my own cap charges, as the BPO and minerals (from reprocessed mission junk loot) are easier to haul around. All you need is Industry 1 and an assembly line.
I don't bother with a target painter unless using T2 missiles.
I've also done the Caldari epic arc, Penumbra, with this Raven fit.
FYI, I started doing level 4 missions in a Drake. I did them all in a Drake before later graduating to a Raven.
